Volunteers are still hard a work doing the finishing touches to make our school inhabitable.

The hallways are finished with the ceilings installed, floors finished and doors all in place.

The art room has its sink and cabinets installed.  Cabinets are being installed in the classrooms as well.

The water is not yet on but the sinks, drinking fountains and toilets are installed. 

Everything is coming together.  The walls are all painted and now the finishing details and the cleaning needs to be comopleted.

With the walls done and the floors done the ceilings are the last thing to go in.  Friday tours are ending August 20th but it will soon be time for the open house and the start of school.

The MITCH volunteers have been incredible!  They have put many hours of painting and cleaning to get our building ready for the next phase.  By having volunteers paint, MITCH was able to save over $24, 000.

Our builidng now has color!  This is the art room.   We were blessed with a designer that came in and hand mixed the paints for us for both the are room and the gym.

Tours are being given every Friday at 4pm.  All those in attendance have been very excited about the progress and have been able to get their questions answered.

Still a lot of work to be done but it is progressing fast.   Construction is now a week ahead of schedule.

The sheetrock is almost finished throughout the building.  The upper part of the gym walls will be peg board to absorb the noise.

This stairwell leads to a storage space above the offices.  On this date the railing was partial wall was being installed but two days later the stairs were also finished.

This is a middle school classroom.  When finished, the walls in this room, as well as in all the classrooms, will be twelve feet high.  The panels in the wall are four feet each so if you count three panels up on the sidewall, you can see how high the ceilings will be when finished.

This will be the front office area when finished.  It will be where Debi, Traci and Janet will work and it will have staff bathrooms.

This is looking down the very long hallway between the elementary school classrooms on the left and the bathrooms and gym on the right.  As you can see, there is lots of dust in the air.  The hallways will have nine foot ceilings when finished.

The metal framing for the walls between all the classrooms is in place.  This is looking across the elementary school classrooms.

These two rooms will house the music room and middle school classes.

They are just finishing the plumbing for the bathrooms and are getting ready to fill in the concrete.

There is lots of activity in the building this week.  All the walls between the bays have been demolished except for the partial wall for the gym.  The immensity of the building is now apparent and it is exciting to be able visualize how large the classrooms will be.

The crews are busy at the building cutting the concrete for the new plumbing.  There is lots of dust (so clear pictures were hard to take)and piles of concrete were being hauled out.

These are Bays 3 & 4.  The back portion of these bays will the future site of our gym and the front portion will be elementary grade classrooms.

This is Bay 2. The back will be the future location of the middle school classrooms and the front will be elementary classrooms.

This was office space in the back of Bay 4.  By next week it will be gone and this will be the future site of one of our K-5 classrooms.

This is the back of Bay 1 where the music room and art area will be.   The stairs in this picture will be gone by next week.  They access a mezzanine that will be for storage.
