Do you have any extra feather boas, sunglasses, toy guitars, bandanas laying around??? If yes…send them in on Monday. We will be using them as props.
Practicing the reading passage is nightly homework. It is best to time them 5 times in a row for one minute each. Help them with the words they do not know the first two or three times. Mark where they get each time and watch the numbers of words per minute increase after each reading. Every student wants to get to the next passage so please help them attain their goals.
This reading passage must come to and from school just like their spelling and phonogram lists. Please establish a routine with your child if you have not done so yet.
RIGGS:
And the journey continues…..
We will continue learning words from Spelling List 7. New words will be limited this week as much of our extra time will be perfecting our Core Knowledge performance
RIGGS challenge group will learn four new challenge words on Monday. They will need to do sentences for both new words and challenge words.
PLEASE make sure you are looking over your child’s nightly homework. They must have correct spelling, punctuation, and capital letters for full credit.
Math:
No new concepts this week. We will be reviewing time, money, regrouping, borrowing, and perimeter.
Core Knowledge (including literature, social studies, and science)
There will be lots of practice this week for the performance on Thursday. We have added some great choreography that we will be mastering this week as well as the lines. We will also diagram our fancy new sentence that we wrote. We will be making signs and props for the show throughout the week.
Students will go out to our garden boxes and make some strawberry and onion observations. The will record their observations in their Agriculture journal.
