If your child is absent during these times they will be pulled out of class on a make-up day and may miss important classroom instruction.
Heritage Project Students need to interview a parent and write an essay from that interview. The outline of the project is in their DOGs along with some sample questions. We will write the rough copy in class and then it will se sent home for a final edit and final copy. It may be typed or handwritten.
SUB on Thursday, Jan. 12 I will not be in school next Thursday and Mrs. Contreras will be subbing for me. Just an FYI.
Pen Pals with India My good friend, Mrs. Johnson is teaching English in India for the next 4 months. She is teaching 5th – 8th grade students in one of the poorest regions of India and to the outcast children of lepers. I think it will be a great experience as we learn through her blog what it is like for children of another culture. Mrs. Johnson has visited our class several times, as she wanted to see how to manage a classroom of elementary students. (She is a retired High School ESL teacher.) In the next few weeks we will be writing and receiving letters from the children of India, which I think is exciting. We are also following her blog at…

Please follow at home as well. Mrs. Johnson is an excellent writer and her posts are beautiful and inspiring.
