Hello and welcome back to another great year at MITCH. In September of 2006 I began teaching at MITCH and have loved being part of this great school and community. Teaching in my passion and I especially love all the subjects I get to teach. Take a look at my scope and sequence for all the wonderful things we will be learning and exploring this year. Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic are focuses across the curriculum. I also like to do many hands-on learning activities and simulations. Each year is a learning adventure for me and for my students. So hang on tight!
My greatest adventure in life so far is being the mother of three fantastic children. This year I will be entering the "college mom" phase as my oldest begins college. My other two children are in middle school and high school. When my children are able, they like to come and help in our classroom with various projects. My husband, Rob, comes and visits our classroom every once in a while as well. We also have a very sweet dog, Penny, and she may make an appearance if we are lucky. A few years ago, before I started my family, I attended Brigham Young University. I graduated and received a B.S. degree in Education. Shortly after graduating I married Mr. Ottley; he was so cute I just couldn’t resist! I then took a job for a few years with Head Start, teaching preschool, educating parents through home-visits, and then training incoming teachers. I was then promoted to be a Center Coordinator and I ran the Head Start Center in Aloha. When our first child was born, I resigned to be a stay-at-home mother.
While raising my family I have been involved in a home sewing business, Cub Scouts, 4-H and substitute teaching. Some of my interests are gardening, swimming, writing, sewing, photography, and reading.
This will be my fifth year teaching fourth grade at MITCH. I do the best that I can for all the children and families I am able to teach. I am looking forward to getting to know this year’s 4th graders and will do my best to make this a memorable year. I hope you will too!
