December 16, 2011 Greetings Parents,
This week was packed with Don Quixote reader’s theater performances, Renaissance festivities, singing with seniors, and service project, not to mention our daily routines! Fabulous students make fabulous learning happen.
Thank you for all of your generosity. I feel very blessed because of your thoughtfulness. Your children are truly students of Mrs. Grothe (they know me pretty well). Again, thank you!
Engrade: Over the Winter Break please be sure your students complete the Heritage Fair – Legacy Project interview. It’s great to hear students talking about and deciding who they plan to interview. The interview questions are attached and will help students complete their key word outlines when they get back to school. If you can take a picture or your student with the person they interview. Including several pictures of the person they interview representing their lifespan (if possible) will add to the project.
Poetry Books: Students who brought in their typed poems last week were able to start assembling their poetry books. They are very creative both with words and with designing their books. If your children have not typed their poems yet please help get them ready by January 3rd. The list of poems and the poems may be found in the front of their Spelling/Vocabulary and Poetry Notebook.
Vocabulary/Spelling: Begin using 4 openers and dress-ups in each paragraph starting January. Remember use the handouts in the DOG to help with prepositional phrases and other criteria for markings.
Character Education: Kuddos to the 5th grade students Adia, Anna, Jasmine, Manasi, Natalie, Neil, and Paige for being so helpful at the Sherriff’s Department Christmas Party for the Transition School. Thank you, Nui, Amy, and Kevin for chaperoning. It warmed my heart to see our students make new friends during the event.
Mark your Calendar: December 16th – Winter break begins January 3rd (Tuesday) – First day back January 26th – Heritage Fair
I hope you all have a safe and relaxing time this winter break and are able to spend quality time with friends and family.
Enjoy, Mrs. Dee Grothe MITCH Charter School 5th Grade Teacher |
