Hello again Kindergarten families,
Great job supporting your kindergartner’s transition into spelling! In the coming week we will continue to review how to set up HW pages and tests. We will keep working on encoding, decoding, and recoding. See below in the Riggs section for next week to read more details on this. Everyone really is doing great.

1. On Riggs paper recite and write 3 times: it.Practice missed 4 times. 2. On Riggs paper recite and write spelling words that use spelling rule 13 (vowels say their name at the end of a syllable).
Coming the week of January 30th to February 2nd in Kindergarten: Riggs: Below are some things we will be working on in class. It’s great if you can support this at home so I will describe in detail so you can support at home. The attachments and descriptions in last week’s newsletter will continue to be helpful. Refer to as necessary. 1.Spelling Dictation: Spelling dictation happens in class daily for each new word. It is great if you practice this at home during HW. You may use the sample dialogue I sent last week. This info is just to help you and keep you in the loop of what goes on in class. This is just to support and add information to last weeks newsletter and forms.
2. Setting up Riggs Paper: We do this in class but wanted you to be able to follow along from home.
New Spelling Words this week: (See phonogram/spelling list for sample markings)
Saxon: Review pairs, counting by 2’s on the odd numbers, rules to draw line segments; Lesson 72: Sorting Objects; Lesson 73 and 74: Tally and add 2-digit numbers with regrouping using dimes and pennies; Lesson 75-1: Estimating measurements and measuring using non-standard units; Lesson 75-2: Mid-Unit assessment.
