Hi All -

 

A few notes for the upcoming weeks:

 

  • Until further notice, it is a good idea to keep long hair tied up when at school.
  • During Camp Week on Wednesday 6/6 students should bring gardening/work gloves to our service day.
  • Please send your student with a full water bottle daily. As the weather warms kids need more liquid. I want to be sure one and all are well hydrated.
  • Please check the dates at the end of the newsletter for the final events of the year.

 

Hopefully the sun will continue to shine and you will all enjoy a warm weekend. Below is next week’s work. Best -Elizabeth

 


HOMEWORK for May 14th – May 17th:

 

Monday:

  • RIGGS: On Riggs paper recite and write 3 times: pet and Pete.Practice missed 4 times.
  • MATH: Saxon worksheet review worksheet
  • Read aloud with your kindergartner for at least 15 minutes.

 

Tuesday:

  • RIGGS: On Riggs paper recite and write 3 times: rod and rode.Practice missed 4 times.
  • MATH: Saxon worksheet 117B (2-sided).
  • Read aloud with your kindergartner for at least 15 minutes.

 

Wednesday:

  • RIGGS: On Riggs paper recite and write 3 times: cut and cute.Practice missed 4 times.
  • MATH: Saxon worksheet 118B (2-sided).
  • Read aloud with your kindergartner for at least 15 minutes.

 

Thursday:

  • RIGGS:
    1. On Riggs paper recite and write 3 times: type.Practice missed 4 times.
    2. Riggs review worksheet.
  • MATH: Saxon worksheet 119B (2-sided).

New Spelling Words: (See phonogram/spelling list for sample markings)

  • pet
  • Pete – sp rule 20: silent final e job 1 (what we say in class while marking: “silent final e job 1: skips over the consonant to make the vowel say it’s letter name.” So you know how the recite and write of this rule goes in class and can practice at home read instructions below. (Pete also teaches capitalizing a proper noun).
    • As we say “silent final e” we write the ‘e’ on the end of the word.
    • As we say “job” we add the double underline.
    • As we say “1” we add the baby 1 over the ‘e’.
    • As we say “skips over the consonant” we underline the consonant.
    • And as we say “to make the vowel say it’s letter name” we underline the vowel.

Saxon: Review Lesson 116: counting dimes, nickels and pennies together. Lesson 117: identifying fractional parts of a whole. Lesson 118: Graphing Tags on a Bar Graph. Lesson 119: Measuring and Drawing Line Segments to the nearest centimeter.


Upcoming Field Trips and Events:

  • May18th: Oregon Garden Forestry Education. School bus there. Drop off in MITCH Gym at 8:00. Pick up in MITCH carline at 11:45. See permission slip sent home 5/14.

 

  • May 31st: Kinder Graduation at MITCH (can you believe it?) 6 pm.

 

  • June 4th – 7th: Outdoor Week. On Wednesday 6/6 students should bring gardening/work gloves to our service day.
