The MITCH Charter School Parent Group is a parent-run committee whose membership includes all parents and legal guardians of students currently enrolled at MITCH Charter School. Our overarching mission is to support the educational programs, curriculum, and extra-curricular activities at MITCH Charter School. Under this umbrella, we focus our efforts on the following activities:
--Fundraising as a contribution to meet the annual deficit in the school’s budget (approximately $70,000 for the 2012-2013 school year) and to support our own programs.
--Encouraging active and positive engagement in our children’s education through volunteerism. Parent volunteers are vital to the implementation of programs that are key features of the MITCH curriculum.
--Coordinating programs that augment and support, but stand outside, the specific curricular goals of MITCH, as established by the school charter and staff.
--Enhancing the connection between individual families and the school as a whole. We will advocate for parents and sponsor events that further a sense of community and ownership among MITCH families.
We aim to achieve these goals by establishing an open forum of communication for parents, respecting the policies and procedures established by the school handbook. Acting upon this mission will enrich our students’ educational environment and develop the resources available for use within the MITCH community.
