School Life

School Hours
  • ​​Students: 7:45 am – 2:30 pm (Mon–Fri)
  • Office: 7:30 am – 3:15 pm
  • Students may enter starting at 7:30 am. Pick-up by 2:45 pm.

Small Class Sizes
Smaller classes mean more individual attention, reduced anxiety about participation, and stronger peer connections.
  • Kindergarten: Maximum of 15 students.
  • 1st–5th Grade: Maximum of 20 students.
    • ​1st Grade can go up to 22 students.

  • 2 daily recesses—one 15-minute grade-level break monitored by teachers.
  • A 20-minute lunch recess supervised by specials teachers and instructional assistants.
  • K-2 have a 3rd 10-minute recess at the end of the day.
homework expectations
Grade-level homework varies but typically includes reading, math, and occasional projects.
uniform guidelines
  • Tops:
    • Solid-color polo shirt (any color), polo dress. No logos/graphics.
  • Bottoms:
    • Khaki, navy, or black pants, shorts, skirts, or jumpers.
  • Outerwear:
    • MITCH sweatshirts, cardigans, sweaters, jackets.
  • PE:
    • MITCH PE shirt + navy/black shorts, leggings, or sweats.
  • Closed-toe shoes required
  • Boots for Agriculture class left at school

  • All personal electronic devices (phones, smartwatches, etc.) must be turned off & stored in backpacks from 7:30 am–2:45 pm.
  • ​Exceptions only for documented medical/safety reasons.

Free Meals for ALL Students!

MITCH also provides FREE daily breakfast and lunch (optional) for all students with no requirement for eligibility, provided by TTSD Nutrition Services (opt-in via monthly Google Form). Please contact the teacher for more information.

Students eat in their classrooms or at outdoor tables during good weather.

​Important: 
  • Families must send a healthy daily snack
  • No candy, no sharing food, and all celebration treats must be store-bought (no homemade).
  • Birthday treats are not allowed.

Transportation & Car Line

Car Line Procedures
AM Carline: 7:30–7:45 am. Late arrivals must park & sign in at the office.
​PM Carline: 2:30–2:50 pm. Drivers may not enter the lot until flagged in at 2:20 pm.

Carline numbers issued by the office must be displayed--no exceptions.

MITCH offers a variety of after-school clubs to enhance student learning and engagement:

  • Wednesday - Fine Art Starts!
  • Thursday - Chess Wizards
  • Friday - Allegro Musical Theater​

​Note: Students absent from school cannot attend after-school clubs that day. Clubs are for currently enrolled MITCH students only.

Parent Involvement

Families are the backbone of the MITCH community!

​We encourage parents to actively participate in their child’s education. Opportunities include:

Families are encouraged to contribute 20 hours annually or a donation of $10 per hour if unable to volunteer.

  • Follow Symptom-Based Exclusion Guidance Chart. 
  • ​Fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and other conditions have specific timelines for return.

Safety & Emergencies

  • MITCH follows the “I Love U Guys” Standard Response Protocol for safety drills.
  • Students practice monthly fire drills, and lockdown/earthquake drills.
  • School closures/delays announced via FlashAlert.
  • In case of evacuation, families reunify at designated sites with sign-out required.
